CAD Program

As you dream about your upcoming project, you may wish you could try different looks, different materials, make it a bit bigger or smaller. If only there was a tool that would make this process simple, convenient and practical.

Well, fortunately there is such a tool that, with just a bit of practice, will allow you to modify CAD drawings - or create your own. And best of all... it's FREE!

The folks at Google have created a handy little CAD program called SketchUp. While there is a cost for their upgraded version - the basic program can be downloaded for free.

Whether you are brand new to using a CAD program, or an old hand, we invite you to use Sketchup to create, alter or simply find ideas for your construction project. There are several advantages to using this program.

First, the program is free and easy to use - but very powerful. There is a lot of online support and training (as well as communities for Q&A).

Second, there already exists a huge number of designs that have been downloaded into the Sketchup Warehouse (a place where users can upload their ideas - sort of like a CAD YouTube). For example, if you type in "SunRoom" into the search engine you will get over 100 designs. You can then download that design, modify it it, and get a 3-Dimensional model of what your project might look like when completed.
